The salary Scale following completion of NMC registration requirements will be
initially £27,055 per annum which increases in line with number of years completed
service to a maximum pay point of £32,934 per annum is reached.
As stated above until you register with the NMC you will commence employment
as a Band 4 at £23,949 per annum while you are studying and until you have passed
your OSCE exam. Your training will take place in our HB OSCE training facility and
you will also be expected to carry out some self-study.
If you fail your first OSCE exam we will support you to sit a second exam, the cost
of which will be paid by yourself. The NMC will allow a third attempt however if you
do not achieve a pass at this stage your offer of employment will be reviewed and
a decision may be made to end your contract of employment.
Once you have registered with the NMC you will then be placed on the first point of
the Band 5 salary scale. If you wish us to consider a higher pay point you will need
to submit this request with evidence and this will be considered subject to
verification of the relevant experience via the Health Board reckonable service
starting salary protocol.
In line with the National Health Service Time Regulations it is our policy to ensure
that employees do not work in excess of 48 hours per week. Normal working week
is 37.5 hours per week. You are required to advise your Manager of any other post/s
held with any organization that would conflict with the Working Time Regulation.
The Health Board will offer the following support:
1. Air Transportation
Free air transportation to the UK and free transportation to your accommodation within
Swansea Bay University Health Board. and in the following cases, free return
transportation to the point of origin:
a. Expiration of this Contract;
b. Termination of this Contract by Swansea Bay
University Health Board without just cause;
c. If you are unable to continue to work due to work connected or work
aggravated injury or illness;
d. Force majeure; and
e. In such other cases when this Contract is terminated through no fault of your
You will be offered free single room accommodation in Hospital appointed residencies
or our external contracted accommodation, for the first 4 weeks only. The expectation
is that you will move out of the hospital accommodation within a month of passing
your OSCE exam. If you choose to find your own accommodation, we will reimburse
you to the value of our hospital residences.
3. Other assistance will be provided in the first month and this may be extended by
mutual agreement such has:
- Assistance with opening a Bank account, obtaining your BRP card
- £500 support monies paid in one instalment
- Information about the hospital and the surrounding area
- Assigned OSCE trainer and OSCE training a period of 4-6 weeks.
- Dedicated support from Human Resources
- Cost of OSCE training programmed and first OSCE exam
- Buddy support system
- Induction and Preceptorship Scheme as a Band 5 nurse
- Support of a Practice Development Nurse during your Preceptorship period .This remuneration package is subject to you completing a minimum of 3years’ service and registration with the NMC.
If you fail to obtain NMC registration or decide to leave the Health Board or
the Health Board terminates your employment prior to this time you will be
expected to repay percentage of all of the monies claimed by yourself. The
